As a Technical Writer, you will have the responsibility to develop and manage the internal and external technical documentation processes and formats required to support the Engineering and Construction disciplines for our Network Services department. You will be accountable for the consistency, quality, and availability of all technical and process content for our Engineering and Construction teams.

This role is critical to the Engineering and Construction teams' ability to produce high quality solutions and deliverables in support of overall business goals. This position requires strong collaborative skills and the ability to work with cross functional and technical teams to develop and manage technical content, including standards, specifications, and processes, so that projects can deliver effective end-to-end solutions, while achieving business goals, process alignment, and value.

This position has the ability to work remotely in any of the 40+ States in which TDS Telecom operates.



Responsibilities

    Analyze, interpret, compose, and edit network system information to develop end-user and technical and process content.
  • Regularly and directly engage with Network Services team members (and other departments as needed) to define high-level requirements for content and process documentation development and maintenance.
  • Content Management: develop and manage version control methods and documents libraries.
  • Develop and maintain technical communications documentation standards; including network system documentation consistent with the standards.
  • Maintain current knowledge of technical writing techniques, tools, and methodologies.
  • Keep current with internal Network Services process and project flows and new and retiring technology and platforms.


Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree (or higher) -OR- 4+ years professional work experience.
  • 5+ years experience with technical documentation of specifications and/or processes.

Other Qualifications

  • Strong written and oral communications skills, including the ability to communicate with leadership at all levels within the business unit.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of applications.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with content management and the development and maintenance of content management policy; including version controlling.
  • Strong ability to work directly and collaboratively with teams from multiple technical disciplines.
  • Strong ability and willingness to hold people accountable for responsibilities including timelines associated with content development and management.
  • Ability to identify usability issues and concerns with documents and processes and take appropriate improvement actions.
