Responsibilities
  • Develop high-quality, reliable detections based on both known adversary behaviors and original hypotheses.
  • Research attacker tradecraft and translate findings into effective detection logic.
  • Design, test, and tune machine learning-based anomaly detection models to identify behavioral anomalies.
  • Build and maintain detections across Windows, macOS, Linux, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Develop detections leveraging signals from enterprise security controls (e.g., Azure AD, Zscaler, MDE..)
  • Contribute to "Detection as Code" workflows, ensuring all rules are version-controlled, tested, and well-documented.
  • Continuously refine existing detections to improve fidelity and reduce false positives.
  • Collaborate with threat intelligence, red team, and incident response partners, while independently driving detection innovation.
  • Document detection logic, coverage, and assumptions to support downstream teams.


Qualifications
  • 4 - 5 Proven years of experience in detection engineering, threat hunting, or SOC analysis.
  • Strong investigative mindset - ability to generate hypotheses and proactively identify gaps in detection coverage.
  • Hands-on experience with SIEM/SOAR platforms (Elastic preferred).
  • Familiarity with machine learning techniques or statistical anomaly detection.
  • Deep understanding of OS internals (Windows, macOS, Linux), including logging and persistence mechanisms.
  • Experience with cloud security monitoring across AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  • Familiarity with logs and telemetry from identity, endpoint and network security platforms (e.g., Azure AD, Zscaler, MDE...)
  • Proficiency in scripting or query languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash, EQL, ESQL).
  • Working knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK and adversary simulation frameworks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams.

  • Potential starting salary range: $139,500 - $150,000
    • Starting salary will be based on skills, background, and experience
    • High end of the range limited to applicants with significant relevant experience
