| Description JOB SUMMARY The Electrical Design Engineer II's primary task will be to generate documentation to facilitate construction of the Phenix Technologies line of products. With the use of CAD technology, designs are engineered to develop customer requirements and product specifications into manufactured equipment. Frequent communication and interaction with other engineers, technicians, production personnel, in-house sales staff and outside sales representatives, and customers is required. This role will be based in our Accident, MD office reporting to the Electrical Design Engineering Manager.
 ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
 Product Design 
  
 Review sales specifications and technical requirements, resolving any questions prior to beginning design work.Design of control circuits, metering circuits, power circuits, communications networks and other electrical devices used in the manufacture of Phenix Technologies' test equipment.Perform calculations during the design process to verify that electrical ratings of the equipment designed are met by the components selected.Specify & order electrical components with correct ratings to perform per design criteriaPrepare the electrical portion of design packages for the production department, which include electrical schematics, bills of materials, packing slips, product specification tags, product manuals, test reports and other supporting documentation as necessary.Ensure that any electrical design changes made during production and testing are updated in the final design information
 Software skills 
  
 Create electrical drawings using AutoCAD for use by production, test, and service departments as well as the end customer.Use of MS Office programs such as Excel, Word and Power Point to assist with numerical calculations, generate test procedures and reports, write product manuals and prepare presentationsCreate electrical component bill of materials using ERP/PLM software package
 Sales, Production, and Test Support 
  
 Support the Sales Department staff when necessary to develop technical specifications and cost estimates for custom equipment that will be designed and manufactured at the facilitySupport Production, Test, and Service Department staff when necessary to solve problems encountered in the production or servicing of Phenix Technologies' test equipmentCreation of new test procedures when needed to verify and document proper operation and calibration of Phenix Technologies' test equipment
 Engineering Responsibilities 
  
 Understand and comply with applicable engineering proceduresPut forth extra effort when required to meet design schedules on projects where delivery time is criticalTravel on an occasional basis, both domestically and internationally, to support service, sales, and marketing effortsTrain and mentor fellow Engineers in proper AutoCAD drawing technique. Provide technical support for product design questions.Perform duties in accordance with Doble Engineering company policiesParticipate in professional society standard development activities in support of company goals
 DECISION-MAKING LATITUDE 
  
 Decisions may be made for more complex aspects, such as cost, layout of components and functionality. Decisions are reviewed by a Senior Engineer or Manager.
 QUALIFICATIONS Education 
  
 Minimum 2-year technical degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering TechnologyPreferred 4-year degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)Applicable experience will be considered in lieu of required education
 Required Experience 
  
 3-5 years of experience in an Electrical Engineering product design roleExperience using MS Office applications including WORD, EXCEL and POWERPOINT 
 PREFERRED EXPERIENCE (Not Required) 
  
 Advanced skills or training in AutoCAD, Spice, PLC programming and MS Office applicationsExperience in the design, production, and testing of electrical apparatus
 Knowledge, skills & ABILITIES 
  
 Fundamental electrical knowledge, including basic DC and AC circuit analysis and power calculationsMore advanced electrical knowledge, including 3-phase circuit analysis, multi-phase DC converters and series / parallel resonance.Candidates should exhibit problem solving skills combined with analytical thinking to arrive at appropriate solutions in a timely mannerThe ability to balance independent creativity with teamwork solutions to provide deliverablesGood verbal and written communication skills required for participating in technical discussions and interacting with customers and vendorsGood internet research skills to search for products, methods, and solutionsA high degree of accuracy, organization and attention to detailCapable of contributing to multiple projects simultaneouslyThe ability to design standard dielectric testing productsThe ability to design non-standard dielectric testing products, motor and transformer testing products, high current products, standard resonant testing products, rubber goods testing products, other miscellaneous test equipmentThe ability to participate in root cause analysis and contribute to failure reports

Actual base salary offered to the hired applicant will be determined based on their work location, level, qualifications, job related skills, as well as relevant education or training experience.Salary Pay Range Minimum $90,150.68 - Midpoint $112,688.35
