Job Summary

The Procedural Technologist performs a variety of technical, diagnostic,therapeuticand patient care tasks for patients with cardiovascular disease using radiological and cardiovascular sciences. The Technologistassistscredentialed care providers in performing diagnostic and interventional procedures in a range of settings including the Cath Lab, Interventional Radiology Lab, and Vascular Lab.

Responsibilities And Scope


  • Assistscredentialed care providers in performance of diagnostic and interventional procedures such as use of hemodynamic support devices, temporary pacemakers, and diagnostic imaging.Assistsphysicians with obtaining digital radiographic images of heart, peripheralvesselsand any other required structures.

  • Ensures room is prepared and stocked for the upcoming procedure. Sets up and prepares suite for upcoming procedures, including sterile trays, catheters, wires,contrastand other supplies needed as guided by the physician.Assistswith routine inventory management tasks.

  • Verifies patient identification.Interviews patients to collect and documentpriormedical history.

  • Guides patients, some distressed, through their examination,applyingsubject matterexpertiseand culturalcompetencyto explain the exam.Setsexpectations and calmspatientfor effective imaging.

  • Selectsappropriate scanningprotocols and imaging parameters using extensive knowledge of human anatomy and pathology.

  • Inputs and organizes patient information and diagnostic images in both primary electronic medical recordkeeping (EMR) system and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS).

  • Performs daily quality checks for procedural areas. Practices and ensures radiation safetyperdocumented protocol.Promotes a safe,cleanand secure hospital environment for all, including the application of standard precautions and principles of infection control.



Qualifications

Hired candidates are expected to obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification afterhire. Training and assessment opportunities will be provided.

Required


  • Certificationas aRegistered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS)as administered byCardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or five (5) or more years working in a procedural role in a Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology setting.

  • Completion of an accredited educational program in health science, including but not limitedtocardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy, nursing or paramedic/EMT.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

  • The role includes on-call responsibilities and requires the employee to arrive on-site within a 30-minute response window.



Preferred


  • Successful completion of EKG / Arrhythmia course.

  • Experience working with a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) such as SYNAPSE or SECTRA

  • Experience working withelectronic medical recordkeeping (EMR)systemsuch as EPIC.
