Job Overview: RWJBarnabas Health is looking to add a qualified Coordinator within the Performance Improvement Department. The PI Coordinator helps coordinate the development, implementation, and evaluation of Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital's overall performance improvement program. This includes but is not limited to the following: supporting the performance improvement process, identifying performance trends, as well as prioritizing, and recommending improvements. The PI Coordinator also plays a supportive role in ensuring compliance with all Regulatory standards. The PI Coordinator reports directly to the Director, Quality/Safety/Regulatory. Qualifications: Required: 
   RN License in New JerseyProfessional Certification CPHQ Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality and/or Certified Professional in Patient SafetyMinimum of five years' experience in clinical practiceKnowledgeable about state, federal, and regulatory agency requirements Preferred: 
   Certified Professional in Patient Safety is highly desirablePrior experience with performance improvement initiatives desirable,Prior leadership experience Certifications and Licenses Required: Scheduling Requirements: 
   Day Shift, 40 hours/weekFull-Time Schedule  Essential Functions: 
   Coordinates hospital wide Performance Improvement activities related to strategic initiatives, Operation Excellence, and departmental goalsAssists departments with development of performance improvement indicators and analyzes the data collectedResponsible for general oversight and maintenance of the organization s generic and variance screening, mortality reviews quality reviews and indicators, surgical and invasive procedure monitoring, etc; as well as scorecards dashboardsMaintains copies of minutes and related documents in Performance ImprovementCoordinates with the departments to develop the annual performance improvement appraisalAssures that meetings are scheduled, agendas are prepared, and minutes are completed in a timely wayResponsible for providing consultative services for RWJ staff & physicians toward meeting standards of accreditation, performance improvement, and organizational compliance:
    
     This includes, but is not limited to providing education to self and others on current Joint Commission standards and other accreditation standards, as well as the latest quality indicators in health careProvides ongoing education regarding quality, regulatory and performance improvement initiatives in relevant forums such as department meetings or individual meetingsCoordinates designated Performance Improvement meetings involving Medical Staff as evidenced by the following performance standardsReviews new Medical Staff Quality Indicators with physicians and other staff as appropriateCoordinates appropriate Quality reviews and prepares reports prior to meetingsCoordinates quality data needed for physicians for re appointment process and as requested for performance improvement initiativesMeets with physician /staff as necessary prior to meetings and on an ad hoc basis to assure effective communication of quality metrics and case review outcomesIs knowledgeable of the requirements of the current CMS and Joint Commission quality initiatives, including the current Leapfrog and Hospital Safety Grade metricsAssists the qualiabstractors, both local and corporate, in ensuring accurate data abstractionMaintains ongoing communication with abstractors to help identify issues and trends for improvement opportunitiesPresents core measure data to the applicable hospital department leaders and physician service lines leaders, and assists in implementation of performance improvement initiatives to improve careIncident Reporting System and follow-up activitiesReviews all events reported within the their departmental responsibilitiesUtilizes the hospital s safety event classification system to classify events in the online event reporting systemAssists department leaders with apparent cause analyses of events in their areas and assist with the development of action plans that leaders will implement to help prevent a similar reoccurrenceParticipates in the RCA process for applicable serious safety eventsCompletes special projects of the Director, QualitySafetyRegulatory andor the VP Medical AffairsCMO in a professional manner, as evidenced by thefollowing:
