Position Summary

Are you interested in joining a results-oriented team of professionals working on challenging, interesting, fast-paced casework? The University of New Mexico's Office of Compliance, Ethics, and Equal Opportunity (CEEO) seeks a Compliance Specialist to support the civil rights investigative and grievance processes at UNM. Areas of concern include Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO), Affirmative Action, Title IX, Title VII, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and various other civil rights laws that ensure equal protection for protected categories. The selected candidate must possess strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, a team player, and must be able to multi-task and handle confidential material in a professional manner. The ability to be neutral and conduct interviews with a trauma-informed approach is crucial.

Conditions of Employment

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Significant experience interviewing parties and investigating concerns related to discrimination, failure to accommodate, Title IX, sexual harassment or sexual assault.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks with time sensitive deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Legal knowledge, including paralegal or JD course work.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)
