Job Title: Performance Load Test Analyst

Location: Columbia, SC

Duration: 6 Months, likely extenions


Duties:

  • Assist in development and make recommendations for tuning of systems to achieve acceptable performance. Working with the Development and support areas, design automated and manual tests simulations for load and stress testing of various complex company systems and applications. Participate in performance tracking and issue resolution. Mentor more junior members of the Performance Load Testing team.
  • 20% Work closely with Analysts and team members to understand business requirements for a work request. Provide input, to the System Designer and System Analyst, on technical assumptions, constraints, approaches, risks, deliverables and estimates, particularly as they relate to load testing. Evaluate proposed simulations and provide technical expertise in the design of the load test simulations.
  • 20% Develop or oversee the design, coding, testing and debugging of automated load test scripts. Confer with user representatives and team members to gain knowledge of systems under test. Mentor and advise junior members of the performance testing team in their work efforts.
  • 20% Evaluate application system's stability and performance by reviewing monitoring data and making recommendations for improvement. Evaluate interrelationships of system components and design proper simulations to uncover potential bottlenecks. This includes evaluating different layers of the system and architecture.
  • 20% Document success and failure of individual load test events and how they relate to historical data. Run statistical analysis on data gathered and effectively communicate technical information and processes to relevant stakeholders (cross-functional groups, clients).
  • 20% Analyze trends, results, capacity and utilizations of systems and participate in recommendations to system improvements and architectural revisions of those systems.


Required Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of software and system architectural concepts.
  • Strong understanding of the system from different perspectives and how its components interact with each other.
  • Able to write test cases/scripts and read /understand bridge diagrams and architectural diagrams.
  • Able to negotiate with or influence business or technical partners.
  • Strong organization and both written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to utilize tools to solve a problems involving performance.
  • Able to analyze and report results on the performance of the systems.


Required Technologies:

  • Cloud hosted application(s) testing experience
  • Design, Develop and execute test strategies, test cases, and automate scripts using testing tools/platforms like Apache JMeter, BlazeMeter, LoadRunner Cloud, Selenium webdriver, Selenium Grid, JUnit, TestNG, SoapUI, Postman and Insomnia.
  • Solid understanding of key performance indicators, metrics and types of testing.
  • Knowledge of performance monitoring tools
  • Identify, track, and manage bugs using TestRail, JIRA/Confluence, or ALM.
  • Understanding of AWS CloudWatch Synthetics
  • Strong knowledge of lift-and-shift, re-platforming, or cloud migration testing.
  • Strong knowledge of REST/SOAP API testing, SQL, and test automation frameworks.
  • Implement automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub, AWS CodePipeline)
  • AWS Services - EC2, IAM, S3, RDS/Aurora, Lambda, API Gateway, CloudWatch, CloudTrail, CodeBuild


Nice To Have:

Understanding DevOps practices and helps in managing cloud-based analytics pipelines and deployments.

Experience with GitHub Actions, version control, automated testing, and deployment of workflows.

AWS Services - DynamoDB, SNS, SQS, Step Functions, Artifact

Required Software and Other Tools:

  • Proficiency in performance testing and monitoring tools. Proficiency in object oriented programming languages.
  • Thorough knowledge of Web protocols and web technologies. Ability to learn new tools and technologies quickly and profile them.

  • Customer-focused, project-oriented testing environment. Fast paced, multi-platformed environment which may require action and response 24X7 to support the technical business needs of the customer.


Required Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other job related degree. or 4 years of job related work experience or 2 years of job related experience plus an associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or other job related degree


Required Work Experience:

  • 6 years of development experience, including 4 years in performance testing and tuning.
