Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit |
The School of Education is an academic unit reporting to the Provost. The School is a major center of research, teaching, and public service within the State of North Carolina, the nation, and the world. The School offers a full range of undergraduate and graduate programs. The mission of the School of Education is to conduct research, and generate basic and applied knowledge about human development, educational technology and entrepreneurship, teaching and learning, school counseling, school psychology, administration, as well as educational policy and leadership; prepare leaders in the profession of education by conducting outstanding research, teaching, and service; and assist in the development of strong and effective public schools in North Carolina. In order to fulfill its mission, the School is organized into three academic divisions: (1) Culture, Curriculum, & Teacher Education (
CCATE), (2) Learning, Development & Psychological Sciences (
LDPS), and (3) Educational Policy, Organization, & Leadership (
EPOL). |
Position Summary |
The Research Assistant will provide support to ongoing research projects aimed at improving mathematics teaching and learning through the use of artificial intelligence. The role involves data collection, management, analysis, as well as data organization. The research assistant will provide administrative and logistical support to the research team. The ideal candidate has worked on prior research, is detail-oriented, possesses strong organizational skills, and has foundational knowledge of mathematics education, artificial intelligence, and research methodologies.
Responsibilities include:
* Assist with data management and analysis: - Perform quantitative and qualitative data entry and coding. - Organize data with accuracy and integrity. - Conduct qualitative analysis under the supervision of senior researchers.
* Support research activities: - Conduct literature reviews on research topics related to mathematics education and artificial intelligence - Maintain detailed research records and organized files, upholding confidentiality and data security.
* Assist with dissemination and reporting: - Support the preparation presentations, and publications by summarizing research findings - Organize documents, articles, and research products to support writing
* Provide project coordination: - Schedule and take notes during research team meetings. - Handle correspondence and other administrative tasks for the research project.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Familiarity with qualitative and/or quantitative research methods. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Previous research experience
Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as a collaborative member of a research team.
Strong organizational and time-management skills to meet project deadlines. |
