This position is funded for 12 months; continuation past 12 months will be based on university need, performance, and/or availability of funding.POSITION SPECIFICS The Northeast Regional Center for Rural Development (NERCRD) is located in the Department of Agricultural Economics, Sociology and Education within Penn State's College of Agricultural Sciences. Our mission is to work on a range of issues with land grant universities and other partners in the Northeast as well as nationally in support of regional economic growth and rural development. NERCRD currently employs a Director, Associate Director, Assistant Research Professor, Communication Specialist, Postdoctoral Scholar and a Graduate Student. The NERCRD seeks applications for an Administrative Assistant. The Administrative Assistant for the NERCRD has many responsibilities including general overseeing of business processes and daily operations of the Center. Care and attention to detail are needed to ensure that all awarded budgets - such as for research grants, general and federally appropriated-funds - are in place and that all costs, including salaries, are charged appropriately and accurately, and balances are monitored and drawn down consistently. In addition, the business manager works closely with the Director to develop budgets and budget justifications for proposals, hire new employees, and correspond with collaborators and stakeholders frequently. Scheduling, preparations and meeting minutes are also required for internal, regional and national collaborators. Special project work includes technical support for webinars and conference proceedings. MINIMUM EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE & REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS If filled as Administrative Assistant - Senior Support, this position requires: Associate Degree 4+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: None If filled as Administrative Assistant - Intermediate Support, this position requires: General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or High School (HS) 2+ years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience accepted Required Certifications: NoneRequired Qualifications: The ability to track and coordinate multiple projects is required. Candidates need to be able to work well independently and also to function effectively in a team setting. Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of University, sponsor and departmental policies, procedures and systems-SIMBA, Workday, SAP Concur and SIMS or similar systems.
