Senior Principal Engineer Summary

Provide strategic technical direction, drive process innovation, and ensure compliance across advanced manufacturing operations.

What You'll Do



  • Provide strategic technical leadership on complex machining and manufacturing projects, aligning engineering decisions with business objectives.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams (design, quality, production) to optimize machining processes and ensure seamless integration across operations.
  • Mentor and guide engineers and technicians, building high-performing technical teams.
  • Develop new machining processes, improve existing methods, and create tooling and fixtures that enhance productivity.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues related to machining, equipment, and product quality.
  • Identify risks and implement strategies to mitigate manufacturing challenges and adopt new technologies.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed documentation for research, analysis, and historical records.
  • Drive capital equipment projects from planning through implementation, ensuring long-term operational success.



Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, or related technical discipline.
  • Strong expertise in machining processes, equipment, tooling, and materials.
  • Proficiency in Siemens NX software for machining design and programming.
  • Proven success in leading complex projects, meeting on-time delivery and quality standards.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to work across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Knowledge of quality control procedures, industry standards, and inspection requirements.
  • Experience with ROMs, BOEs, and quoting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (SharePoint, Excel, Project, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Hands-on experience with capital project management and implementation of new equipment or production setups.



Preferred Qualifications



  • 10+ years of machining/manufacturing experience, ideally in a defense contracting environment.
  • Advanced programming skills for 3, 4, and 5-axis mills, vertical and horizontal lathes, and multi-head configurations.
  • Experience writing/editing Post Processors.
  • PMP certification or equivalent program/project management experience.
