Information Assurance Governance Specialist

Location: On-Site, Washington, DC (supporting a federal client) **Proposal Effort**

Clearance Requirement: Active SECRET clearance or the ability to obtain one through a government background investigation.

Salary range: $105,000 to $115,000

The Opportunity

We're looking for an Information Assurance Governance Specialist who's passionate about cybersecurity, compliance, and protecting critical government systems. In this role, you'll help shape, maintain, and enforce policies that safeguard sensitive data and ensure our client meets federal security standards. Your expertise will directly support the mission by reducing risk and strengthening defense against evolving cyber threats.

What You'll Do



  • Develop, review, and update information assurance policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Perform risk and vulnerability assessments and recommend mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with federal cybersecurity regulations such as NIST, FISMA, and related frameworks.
  • Partner with stakeholders to drive security awareness and ensure adherence to governance best practices.



What We're Looking For



  • Active SECRET clearance or the ability to obtain one through a government background investigation.
  • Minimum BS/BA degree in a related area (or equivalent)
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in a related field
  • Strong background in information assurance, cybersecurity, or IT governance.
  • Hands-on experience with NIST, FISMA, and other federal cybersecurity standards.
  • Ability to assess risks, identify vulnerabilities, and recommend solutions.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to translate complex requirements into actionable guidance.


Important Note: The hiring process includes a government background check, which may take several weeks. A contingent offer will be extended pending successful completion of this clearance, and employment cannot begin until it is granted.
