Back-end Engineer

The Opportunity:

As a back-end developer, you know that a good site or system needs the right combination of clean code, APIs, analytics, and infrastructure to develop a user-focused solution. We're looking for an experienced back-end developer with the software engineering skills it takes to identify potential risks, contribute to solution development, and create efficient and effective systems for our clients.

As a back-end developer at Booz Allen, you'll use the latest architectural approaches and open-source frameworks and tools to deliver solutions. You'll be developing and maintaining the technology needed to power the components which enable the user-facing side of enterprise applications databases to conceptualize and implement data storage solutions, run performance testing and benchmarking, and optimize data performance. Using your software engineering experience, you'll work with the development team to create custom tools, systems, and sites with consistent performance and scalability.

You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience in backend development and API design
  • Experience in backend languages such as Python, Java, or Node.js
  • Experience with JavaScript, SQL, server-side development, middleware, application or data integration, API development, core application systems, Groovy, Scala, Spring Cloud, Spring Core, Spring-Boot, or Spring Data
  • Experience writing source code for new applications or generating and enhancing code samples for existing applications
  • Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL and MongoDB
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and containerization, including Docker and Kubernetes
  • Knowledge of OAuth2, JWT, and API key-based authentication
  • Knowledge of federal compliance frameworks such as FISMA or FedRAMP
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience working on federal grant systems or public sector platforms
  • Experience with cloud platforms including AWS GovCloud or Azure Government
  • Knowledge of Grants.gov, GrantSolutions.gov, or equivalent API and System-to-System integration protocols
  • Knowledge with SOAP APIs and legacy system integration

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $62,000.00 to $141,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
