We're hiring a full-time Lead Custodian to help maintain and oversee the cleanliness of our engineering and production facility in Huntsville. This role is hands-on and requires someone with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to guide and inspect the work of others. Cleanliness of our facility directly impacts safety and operational flow, and this role is responsible for setting that standard.

What You'll Do


  • Perform daily cleaning of offices, production areas, restrooms, conference rooms, and shared spaces.
  • Restock soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and other restroom supplies from custodial storage.
  • Handle scheduled deep-clean tasks such as carpet shampooing and machine scrubbing floors.
  • Break down cardboard boxes, compact trash, and maintain waste/recycling areas.
  • Track and manage custodial supply inventory.
  • Ensure all cleaning materials are labeled and safely stored per MSDS standards.
  • Provide basic oversight of the part-time evening custodian and inspect quality of work.
  • Report maintenance issues or safety concerns to the Facilities Technician promptly.
  • Support facility upkeep by moving equipment, cleaning carts, and other supplies as needed.


Requirements


  • 3+ years of custodial experience in a commercial, industrial, or production environment
  • Ability to lift, carry, or move items up to 50lbs
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow structured cleaning schedules
  • Experience using vacuums, mop systems, carpet cleaners, and floor scrubbers
  • Comfortable working independently and maintaining accountability
  • Available to work second-shift hours (3PM-11PM, Monday-Friday)


Preferred


  • Experience in an engineering or production facility
  • Familiarity with MSDS guidelines and safe use of cleaning chemicals
  • Prior experience operating a trash compactor
  • Comfortable tracking consumable inventory and reordering supplies
  • Familiar with working in secure, access-controlled environments


Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs. Daily tasks require standing, walking, climbing stairs, bending, and using various cleaning equipment. Some work may require use of a ladder, hand tools, or compacting trash.

Work Environment

This role operates in a hands-on, production and engineering environment with high standards for cleanliness, safety, and attention to detail. The expected long-term schedule for this role is Monday-Friday, 3:00PM to 11:00PM. However, during the initial training and transition period (approximately the first 2 months), the Lead Custodian must be available for a flexible daytime schedule, such as 10:00AM to 6:00PM, to support onboarding and training activities.

ITAR Requirement

In compliance with International Traffic Arms Regulations (ITAR), candidates must be U.S. Citizens, U.S. Permanent Residents (Green Card holders) or individuals granted asylee/refugee status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3).
