Inside the Role

Interns will gain knowledge and experience through exciting and real-life learning opportunities. Interns must work in accordance with DTNA's core values of passion, respect, integrity and discipline. Internship positions can be located at various DTNA locations across the US. We are looking for high performing and motivated individuals in various areas within DTNA organizations. DTNA internships begin each summer in May or June.

Transmission and Axle Production Department Overview: The Transmission and Axle Production department is responsible for the Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Morale metrics for the production for 3 different axle production lines, 1 transmission production line, 5 test benches. The intern would support in continuous improvement activities as they relate to production support in the Transmission and Axle Business.

Interns in this role may have the opportunity to transition into a full-time position subject to manager evaluations and business availability.

Salary placement is determined by your anticipated graduation year and ranges between $21 - $30 per hour.

What You Drive at DTNA
  • Cycle time and utilization confirmation for production jobs
  • Optimizing manpower utilization in production
  • Works directly with supervisors, team leaders, and team members to optimize production processes
  • Participate in Practical Problem Solving discussions to find root cause on systemic issues impacting metrics.
  • Developing flexible manpower plans to support varying shift models.
  • Support special projects as required
  • Assist in driving the digitalization efforts in the department, coordinating with the Tech Lab to develop visualization tools to quickly troubleshoot and improve business KPIs.
  • Lead and support efforts to foster an inclusive and welcoming workplace culture where everyone belongs

Knowledge You Should Bring

  • Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor's program or higher from an accredited college/university OR have recently graduated within 1 year of the position start date (May/June)
  • Pursuing degree in industrial engineering, Manufacturing engineering, or Operations Management preferred
  • Knowledge of process mapping/value stream mapping
  • Curious and inquisitive with a "go and see" mentality
  • Sense of Urgency
  • Ability to work in an industrial/plant environment and follow safety standards.
  • Be comfortable with the ambiguity and ongoing change of daily production.
  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • PowerBI/Microsoft Tools
  • Six Sigma Green Belt
  • Solid organizational skills
  • Creative mindset
  • Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
