Production Assistant - Houston

REPORTS TO: Production Supervisor or Shift Supervisor

FUNCTION: To assist production workers in various ways as required.

Essential Responsibilities:

Perform miscellaneous supervised work having a direct or indirect relation to product operations. Does hand trucking and positioning of materials in work area and facility.

Measure, cut and assemble crates for large equipment, mount and secure equipment on skids for shipment. Add bracing, bolting, etc., to ensure rigidity and protection in transit. Stencil or attach shipping and handling instructions. Assignments are supervised and checked.

Drive company vehicles on short trips or errands. Responsible for completing errands and returning to factory by most direct route, without unnecessary/unauthorized stops or delays. Seat belt is required when driving.

Assist shipping in packaging, labeling, and shipment paperwork.

Assist in Assembly Departments, prepping and cleaning products, operating the lathe and mill, tube bending, and hydro-testing.

Observe company safety rules, including the use of personal protective equipment as needed and/or prescribed. Frequently lifts materials weighing up to 50 pounds.

Other Responsibilities:

Empties trash/scrap containers daily. Does routine light maintenance in shop and office. Checks light fixtures and replaces bulbs as necessary.

Does material handling to help assemblers and stock areas.

Performs such other duties as may be assigned.

Job Specifications:

2. Skills and Knowledge:

2.1 Ability to operate basic power tools.

2.2 Knowledge of simple measuring devices - scale, square, tape measure, etc.

2.3 Mechanical aptitude.

2.4 Ability to read and write and do simple math.

2.5 Demonstrates safe work practices.
