Primary Purpose: Leads, develops, and supports the health and safety programs of the company. Oversees conformance with federal, state, and local occupational safety regulations and company policies. Leads in the achievement of improved safety performance in conjunction with company management. Leads the corporate industrial hygiene process, supporting sites in developing industrial hygiene plans and managing risk of chemical, environmental, radioactive and biological hazards. Develops and maintains strong ties with locational leadership and safety personnel regarding implementation of corporate safety programs. Provides technical leadership and guidance to all departments when required regarding health and safety questions / issues. Essential Functions and Requirements:

Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering preferred. CSP preferred. Experience: Minimum of Eight years' experience working in health and safety required. Strong abilities and experience with transportation/fleet safety required. Knowledge and Abilities: This is a safety sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function. Thorough knowledge and understanding of all federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to occupational health and safety. Good organization skills. Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respirator. Strong supervision skills, with proven ability to lead others. Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate with internal and external customers and to effectively manage and motivate employees and communicate objectives and action plans. Ability to influence, sell, convince, collaborate. Strong project management skills. Strong decision-making skills. Ability to research facts, data and other information from internal and external sources. Strong grammar and writing skills. Basic knowledge of environmental business and/or chemical manufacturing. Strong use of computers and corresponding programs - Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other data base programs. Ability to maintain confidential business information. Ability to establish positive relations with internal and external stakeholders. 40-hour HAZWOPER certificate and current annual 8 - hour HAZWOPER refresher, 49 CFR DOT HM-126F certification or willingness to obtain. CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain. Must be willing and able to travel (up to 50%) Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
