The engineering assistant supports engineers by performing technical and administrative tasks, such as managing our engineering status report, updating operation sheets in our database as well as the shop floor, preparing drawings, performing calculations, conducting research, and managing project documents, to aid in the design, development, and implementation of engineering projects. Required skills include proficiency with CAD software (Solidworks), strong analytical and communication abilities, and familiarity with project management and office suites.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and Drafting: Creating and modifying engineering drawings (operation sheets) using CAD software (Solidworks).
  • Research and Data Collection: Gathering technical data and information to support engineering projects.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Assist in preparing and reviewing technical reports, project presentations, and other project documentation.
  • Project Support: Maintaining project schedules, tracking progress, and coordinating with other teams.
  • Testing and Troubleshooting: Assisting with testing and troubleshooting engineering systems and equipment.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Education: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field, preferred.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency with CAD software and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reports and teamwork.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail is crucial for accuracy in technical tasks.

Typical Work Environment

  • Engineering assistants often work in offices, but duties will also involve working on the Genba updating operation sheets and assisting other team members as needed.
  • They typically work under the close supervision of a senior engineer or Engineering Manager, with their work checked for accuracy and adherence to instructions.
  • Ability to participate in Kaizen workshops on site, or at another Pursuit site is a plus.
