The Production Control Administrator / Expediter is responsible for coordinating and ensuring timely release and flow of manufacturing work orders across all production departments, aligning internal operations with customer demand and schedules. This role bridges planning, production, and warehousing to maintain schedule adherence, resolve bottlenecks, and support on-time delivery. It includes both strategic oversight and tactical hands-on execution, ERP management, and interdepartmental communication.

  • Ensure shop orders are released on time and in the correct sequence to support customer demand and production efficiency.
  • Create, track, and print manufacturing work orders; monitor dispatches to ensure alignment with customer schedules.
  • Maintain accurate planning parameters in ERP/MRP systems (lead times, min/max order quantities, order policies, setup/run times, etc.).
  • Monitor job progress through machining, inspection, processing, and assembly to ensure adherence to schedules.
  • Demonstrate informal leadership by influencing peers across departments to follow production schedules, priorities, and best practices without formal managerial authority.
  • Expedite jobs through departments; identify and resolve production issues or bottlenecks.
  • Physically transport parts between departments when needed to maintain flow.
  • Generate and post daily/weekly production metrics on visual management boards.
  • Provide estimated completion/delivery dates for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct regular walk-throughs of the shop floor to verify job status and initiate corrective actions.
  • Communicate clearly with supervisors, machinists, planning, procurement, customer service, and leadership. Lead by example through clear communication, follow-through, and a proactive approach to problem-solving on the shop floor.
  • Set an example for professionalism, compliance, and integrity.
  • Collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Review and execute engineering change orders, support planning for new orders and customer forecast fluctuations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Regular attendance on-site at the work site is required


Required Education and Work Experience


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field preferred. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in production control, planning, or expediting in a manufacturing environment; Aerospace industry experience strongly preferred.


Other Required Skills and Abilities


  • Strong knowledge of ERP/MRP systems (e.g., Infor Visual, JobBOSS, Epicor, Oracle).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Ability to analyze data, manage schedules, and solve complex problems in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills.
  • Familiarity with reading job routers, travelers, and engineering drawings.
  • Experience with AS9100 quality systems is preferred.
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement methodologies is preferred.
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills (English).


Physical Demands and Work Environment
To perform the essential functions of the role, employees must be able to perform the following activities with or without reasonable accommodations:


  • Frequent standing and walking in the shop and warehouse.
  • Occasional lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, climbing stairs or ladders.
  • Ability to operate computers and assess inventory/parts visually and manually.


Work is performed in a manufacturing warehouse environment where working conditions may vary significantly; the employee will be exposed to:


  • Moderate to high noise levels (hearing protection may be required).
  • Dust, fumes, and varying temperatures.
  • Extreme hot or cold temperatures (occasionally).
  • Hazardous equipment and tools
  • The use of PPE, including hearing protection, eye and hand protection, and use of safety footwear is required
