Job Description:

Weld Lab Technician to work on lab work requests diagnosing, testing, and developing MIG/ MAG torches, Plasma, gouging & accessories, PPE, and welding equipment. Follow test procedures and write test reports in standard format. Organize lab.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Not limited to but normal job specific duties include:

  • Learn lab equipment and test procedures.
  • Work on assigned lab requests under guidance of other lab technicians and engineers, write and submit completed test reports in specified format.
  • Get trained by CSA engineer and senior lab technician on procedures to be able to conduct tests independently.
  • Over time:
    • develop to become an expert weld lab technician capable to run all tests independently.
    • Interface with customers, operation, quality, product managers, and any other stake holders to understand needs and address.

Qualifications (Include education, experience, technical, travel and language requirements)

  • Professional Welding Diploma - must
  • Certification by AWS - preferred
  • Low and High Voltage Electrical Training - preferred
  • Fluent in English (read, write, speak)
  • Required: Welding and cutting experience (MIG/ MAG/ TIG/ Plasma)
  • Required: Weld Lab Equipment handling experience
  • Required: MS office (Power Point, Excel, Teams, SharePoint)
  • Required: Planning and organizational skills to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Preferred: Gouging and Low/ High voltage Electrical experience
  • Preferred: Ability to organize and work in a team environment
  • Preferred: 1-2 years after welding diploma
  • Preferred: Welding, gouging, and Electromechanical product experience
  • Preferred: Robotics, Cobots, PLC programming, laser
  • Preferred: DAQ, oscilloscope, general lab electro-mechanical equipment
  • On-site work 5-days a week with occasional up to 10% travel domestically
