Videographer/Video Editor
Part-Time: (Up to 14 hours per week)
Reports to: Director of Communications

(In-person)

Description:
The University of Minnesota Law School seeks a part-time videographer/video editor (digital media specialist) to record, compose, and edit video for external communications that will amplify the Law School's brand and reputation. Reporting to the Director of Communications, the videographer is a member of the Law School's communications team.

Video Content Creation and Editing (95%)

  • Responsible for video production for external communications on behalf of the University of Minnesota Law School. Videos may include faculty scholarship videos, leadership videos, student videos, alumni event videos, fundraising videos, promotional videos for events, social media videos/reels, and more.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to conceptualize and script compelling video content that aligns with our brand and institutional goals.
  • Plan and execute video shoots, from location scouting to directing on-camera talent.
  • Capture high-quality video and audio footage during on-site and off-site shoots.
  • Edit video and sound materials to create polished final products that resonate with our audience.
  • Collaborate with the Communications team to develop video and multimedia content for the website, social media, and various other channels.
  • Collaborate with the Law IT team on multi-camera, live-to-tape, or livestreamed recordings, events, and seminars.
  • Ensures video and digital media amplify the brand and reputation of the University of Minnesota Law School.
  • Edits video in post-production, inputting music, dialogue, graphics, and effects to ensure the highest quality possible.
  • Ensure delivery of finished products to appropriate channels or team members for captioning, posting, and distribution.

Other Duties as Assigned (5%)

This is a part-time, 14-hour/week contract position. This position is in person, with some work done remotely. The work will run through June 30, 2026, with the potential to extend beyond this date.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Completed BA/BS or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years.
  • Experienced videographer and video editor with a demonstrated portfolio of completed projects.
  • Demonstrated experience with video recording equipment, including cameras, microphones, lighting, software, and more.
  • Expert editing skills and experience with Adobe Premiere Pro.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and with a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines with multiple priorities and plan accordingly.

Preferred:

  • Proficient in additional Adobe Creative Cloud applications, such as Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
  • Experience with motion graphics and templating, particularly in After Effects.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour, depending on education/qualifications/experience.
