Position Summary |
The Research Technician position will organize laboratory samples and work with other core facilities, transferring receiving animals, coordinating behavioral analysis, and independently handling animal protocols that are required for
UNC
IACUC approval. Laboratory procedures performed will include: 1) animal handling; 2) mouse brain preparation, perfusion, and sectioning; 3) histology and immunohistochemistry (
IHC); 4) protein/western analysis; 5)
DNA analysis, cloning and genotyping animals. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. |
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
Ability to organize and tabulate data; ability to ensure quality control of data collection. Ability to maintain inventory of equipment, supplies, and related research materials. General knowledge of applicable area of science to perform laboratory procedures and tests in support of research protocol. |
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience |
The preferred candidate will have experience in some aspects of molecular biology, biochemistry, and cell biology related to human disease. Particular experience in animal handling, mouse brain preparation, perfusion, and sectioning, histology and immunohistochemistry (
IHC), protein/western analysis, and
DNA analysis, cloning, and genotyping animals is also preferred. |
