About the Job

The School of Music in the College of Liberal Arts occasionally hires part-time and/or short-term
musicians to provide live music for day and/or evening classes. This does not constitute a
posting for vacancies, but establishes a pool of applicants should openings occur during the
2025-2026 academic year. Applications will not be acknowledged upon receipt. Applicants will
only be contacted should an active opening occur during the academic year. Appointments may
be renewable based on need, funding, and performance.

Job Responsibilities:

  1. Perform music during day and/or evening classes, performances, and/or events through
    reading music by sight.
  2. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Must be able to play a variety of music with a broad stylistic range and flexibility.
  • Wind, brass, percussion, and/or string instruments for instrumentation needs ranging
    from chamber ensembles to symphonic orchestras.
  • Must be able to read and play relatively difficult music by sight.
  • Must be reliable and able to meet class, rehearsal, and performance schedules.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience performing classical works with a wide range of styles.
  • Broad rhythmic and metric range.
  • Ability to read music.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour depending on education/qualifications/experience.
