Custodian

The Children's Home of Poughkeepsie has been caring for children throughout the Hudson Valley for over 175 years! We strive toempower children and families to achieve optimal health and well being.We are currently seeking aCustodianto work in our Support Services Department.

Position Summary:

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all agency facilities. The Custodian also assists with Children's Home special events as needed.

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm, Saturday-Sunday OFF.

MINIMUM Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Valid NYS Driver License in good condition as determined by the Agency.
• Previous experience in housekeeping/custodial work.
• Must complete and pass a pre-employment physical, PPD and drug screen and an annual physical and PPD.

PREFERRED Qualifications:

• At least 1 year of experience working in a congregate care environment.
• Appropriate certifications/licensure

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

• Capable of vigorous physical activity, including bending, stooping, kneeling, walking to different campus locations.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Constantly handling agency-approved cleaning and sanitizing chemicals.
• Able to safely operate job-specific machinery (vacuum cleaner, floor buffer, IMOP, kitchen equipment, etc.)
• Able to safely operate an agency vehicle in accordance with NYS motor vehicle law.
