The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Position Summary Performs operations as required by job order and/or or supervisor's directive in patching, repairing, preparing and painting all types of facilities using all methods common to the trade. Responsibilities Shall be proficient in the employment of all tools, methods and materials pertaining to the painter's trade. Shall have knowledge and ability to prepare existing and new surfaces for painting by scraping, plaster patching, taping and spackling. Mix paints to the proper consistency, blend and add coloring to walls, floors, and ceilings using the brush, roller, or spray method of application. Stain varnish and refinish cabinets, desks, chairs, and other types of equipment and furnishings. Remove graffiti, posters and stains from interior and exterior surfaces. Rig and work from swing scaffolds, ladders and window jacks, at varied elevations on aluminum or wooden ladders. Must observe established safety procedures and leave all areas where performing work broom clean. Must keep simple records of materials used, work done, and time spent. Shall be able to read blueprints, diagrams and be able to work safely, independently and reliably from verbal or written instructions. Much be able to clearly communicate in English both orally and in writing. Perform all duties as directed. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma, GED or equivalent required. Satisfactory passing of applicable tests. Four years of good painting experience with a minimum as one year as a Mechanic "C" or its equivalency. Must provide current contact telephone number(s). Preferred Qualifications Ability to work independently with minimum supervision. Employees hired after March 26, 1999 will be subject to a four year wage progression in accordance with the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Other Requirements Must have all applicable licenses and permits. Ability to read and interpret documents, follow written, oral, diagrammatical or scheduled forms; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; interpret technical instruction; lift up to 50 pounds, move heavier objects with assisted devices; work near or with moving mechanical parts, chemical and electrical equipment required.
