Main Duties & Responsibilities
The Metallurgical Laboratory
Technician I is responsible for performing testing of setup and in-process
parts using metallurgical laboratory equipment, precision measuring tools and
gages. Ensuring all inspection and test equipment are within calibration prior
to use. Lastly, this role will be critical in supporting the quality needs of
the business. In matters concerning operations, the Metallurgical Laboratory
Technician I adheres to the policies, procedures, and work instructions that
support Allfast Fastening System's AS9100 Quality Management System and NADCAP
Accreditations.

Qualifications

Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Read, interpret and execute applicable procedures, specifications, work instructions, etc.
Ensure that all test equipment and materials are maintained in good working condition and that calibration is current for items requiring calibration prior to use.
Ensuring all safety and/or personal protective equipment are being followed.
Perform Preventive Maintenance as assigned and document results of all required equipment checks and reporting of any nonconforming conditions to the department leadership.

Perform setup and in-process dimensional examinations in accordance with defined requirements / parameters and documenting the test results on the appropriate record (upon completion of training).
Prepare metallographic samples using lathe, cutters, and/or grinders per laboratory procedures (sectioning, mounting, grinding/polishing, etching).
Prepare and maintain etchants used in metallographic evaluations.

Evaluate and document setup and in-process metallographic mounts.
Support audits (Internal & External) as determined by the Quality Manager.
Participate in Internal Round Robin and perform Proficiency Tests.
Assist with tracking of consumable supplies inventory critical to Quality function including lab supplies, inspection supplies and identify opportunities related to potential cost-reduction.
Maintain a working knowledge of internal Quality and lab procedural requirements as they apply to inspection, testing, manufacturing operations, NADCAP and AS9100.
Properly store and maintain quality records and retained laboratory samples in accordance with established procedures.
Understand, adhere, and demonstrate to the company's commitment to quality and safety.
Perform other duties and projects as assigned by department leadership.
Must be able to work weekends and extended hours at Month and Quarter End, as needed.

Language Skills:
Ability to read and interpret
documents such as work orders, safety rules, operating and maintenance
instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add,
subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers,
common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Abilities:
Ability to apply common sense
understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram
form. Ability to perform complex duties
where a high level of independent judgment and action is required.

Blueprint Reading:
Ability to read and interpret
blueprints.

Other Qualifications:
Skilled in the set up and use of metallurgical
equipment such as cut-off saw, bench lathe, automatic grinders and polishers, basic
metallography skills using metallurgical micro and macro scopes.,
micro-hardness tester, and plating thickness machine. Ability to use precision measuring
instruments, such as micrometers and calipers.

Ability to read and understand
a manufacturing work order sequence of operations.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must
be computer literate and be familiar with Spreadsheet software and Word
Processing software.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school
diploma or general education degree (GED).

Minimum of three
(3) years of experience in Quality within a manufacturing organization.

Zero to Three (0-3)
years mechanical/metallurgical/metallographic laboratory experience (preferably
in an aerospace fastener manufacturing environment).

While performing the duties of this job, the employee
is regularly required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk
or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and
arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk and kneel, or crouch. The employee must regularly lift and/or move
up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally
lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color
vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Compensation

In compliance with all states and cities requiring transparency of pay, the expected pay range for this position is $19.00 - $29.86.

Compensation can vary depending on several factors, including a candidate's qualifications, skills, experience, competencies, and geographic location. Some roles may qualify for extra incentives like equity, commissions, or other variable performance-related bonuses.
