The Salvation Army seeks a Donor Relations - Fundraising Admin position. The Donor Relations - Fundraising Admin serves as a vital member of the ministry team, providing administrative, financial, and fundraising support to advance the mission of the organization. This role requires a detail-oriented and spiritually grounded individual who can manage office operations, assist with donor engagement, and support basic accounting functions. The ideal candidate demonstrates a heart for service, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to Christian values.

This is a part-time (24 hours/week) Non-Exempt Position located at 320 E 8th St., Joplin, MO which serves Jasper and Newton Counties. The position will be compensated based on education and experience. A full job description will be provided at the time of interview.

Essential Functions

Administrative Support



  • Provide general office support, including correspondence and deposits.
  • Maintain calendars, coordinate meetings, and prepare agendas and minutes.
  • Assist with internal and external communications, ensuring a tone consistent with the organization's Christian mission.
  • Ensure accurate gift designation and data transmission to Finance.
  • Support the Corps Officers with donor visit coordination, event planning, and documentation.


Fundraising & Donor Relations



  • Maintain accurate donor records in the donor management system (Salesforce).
  • Prepare donor acknowledgment letters, tax receipts, and mailing lists.
  • Assist in planning and executing donor stewardship events such as breakfasts, dinners, and symposiums.
  • Support donor stewardship efforts through follow-up calls, mailings, and personalized correspondence.
  • Help prepare fundraising reports and materials for leadership and board meetings.
  • Conduct donor/prospect research and generate reports for stewardship activities.
  • Collaborate with Corps Officers to support donor newsletters, social media, and email campaigns.
  • Ensure proper gift designation and accurate transmission of accounting data to the Finance Department.
  • Learn and stay current on The Salvation Army's programs and projects and effectively communicate the mission to donors.
  • Pursue new grants and funding opportunities.
  • Cultivate relationships by updating, appreciating, and asking donors to deepen their partnership with The Salvation Army, including solicitation of gifts.
  • Execute strategy through phone, email, postal service, social media, and customized notes/correspondence.
  • Engage in face-to-face communication with giving prospects/donors on a limited number of accounts that qualify.
  • Capture new information regarding donor's interests, relationship, life events, and capacity for philanthropic giving, and enter information in the donor's database record.
  • Solicit donors for special campaigns or needs based on donor preferences.
  • Set up meetings for the Corps Officers with donors and potential donors.
  • Attend ongoing trainings with sharing of best practices offered by Divisional Headquarters
  • Flexibility in schedule to attend meetings and special events.
  • Tell The Salvation Army's story to the community through a variety of engagement methods.


Minimum Qualifications:



  • Associate degree required, bachelor's in Nonprofit Management or related field preferred
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in fundraising or nonprofit administration preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and donor databases (Salesforce)
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and discretion
  • Requires a valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and the ability to pass a TSA MVR check
  • Personal commitment to the Christian faith and alignment with the mission and values of the organization


Physical and Working Conditions

Must be able to perform the duties of the job. Position must be able to work in an office environment using a computer, answering phones, and operating office equipment. Must be able to work outdoors when needed in various weather conditions. Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally. Position must be able to work with a wide variety of people, ranging from clients with potential personal issues to community and business leaders.
