Essential Job Duties |
The Research Associate will contribute to ongoing projects in mathematical biology, with a focus on analyzing image-based and time-series biological data through mathematical, statistical, and machine learning approaches. The role is designed for a researcher with expertise in applied mathematics and computational modeling, who can develop methods to extract quantitative insights from experimental data and collaborate with biological scientists on interdisciplinary research.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and apply methods for image processing and quantitative analysis of microscopy and experimental imaging data.
- Design and implement algorithms for analyzing time-series data from biological systems, including model fitting, forecasting, and uncertainty quantification.
- Build and analyze mechanistic and statistical models of biological systems, integrating experimental datasets.
- Apply sensitivity analysis, parameter subset selection, and Bayesian inference to improve model identifiability and predictive capability.
- Implement computational pipelines in Python, MATLAB, and/or R for efficient analysis of large-scale biological datasets.
- Collaborate with experimental biologists and applied mathematicians to integrate models with data and generate biological insights.
- Contribute to manuscript preparation, scientific presentations, and documentation of methods.

Required Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics, Computational Biology, or related field.
- Strong background in mathematical and statistical modeling of biological systems.
- Demonstrated expertise in image analysis, time-series modeling, Bayesian inference, and uncertainty quantification.
- Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, or R, with experience in computational data analysis and high-performance computing environments.
- At least 3 or more peer-reviewed publications in mathematical modeling journals that highlight interdisciplinary work with biological data.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to present complex methods and results to diverse audiences.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with mechanistic modeling approaches such as PK/PD, PBPK, or QSP.

- Prior experience collaborating with pharmaceutical, biotech, or clinical research groups.
