Who You Are:

We are seeking a highly analytical and resourceful Economist to support the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) United States Coast Guard (USCG) Office Of Standards Evaluation and Development (CG-REG). This role involves conducting rigorous research, collecting and analyzing large datasets, and applying economic theories to assess feasibility, identify operational inefficiencies, and recommend strategies for maximizing value and profitability.

What You'll Do:

  • Conduct in-depth research on economic trends related to production, distribution, and financial operations
  • Collect, organize, and analyze large volumes of data to assess practicability and determine implications of reports
  • Apply mathematical models and statistical techniques to evaluate economic scenarios and forecast outcomes
  • Develop economic procedures, plans, and policies to support regulatory cost-benefit analysis and strategic planning
  • Detect and assess production-related issues that may impact the economic value of goods and services
  • Formulate recommendations to improve operational efficiency and financial performance
  • Advise businesses, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations on economic strategies and financial management
  • Use scale-of-preference analysis to identify and prioritize organizational needs
  • Stay current with economic trends and apply relevant changes to enhance financial operations
  • Maximize profit by identifying optimal use of limited resources through economic modeling and feasibility studies
  • Compile and present research findings in clear, accessible formats including reports, charts, and presentations
  • Support the design, development, and evaluation of loan projects and economic development initiatives
  • Develop and share knowledge products to build capacity in economic methods and principles

What You'll Bring:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or Public Policy, and a minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience developing statistical and/or economic analyses in support of regulatory cost benefit analysis; or
  • A Master's degree in Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, Public Policy and a minimum of 1 year demonstrated experience developing statistical and/or economic analyses in support of regulatory cost benefit analysis
  • Must be proficient in English, both written and verbal, to ensure effective communication and collaboration.
  • Successful results of preemployment screenings, including federal background check, MVR, and drug screen.
  • Comply with company drug and alcohol policy.
  • Be authorized to work in the US or will be authorized by the successful candidate's start date.

Compensation

Expected Salary: $95,000 - $110,000

Versar Global Solutions is providing the compensation range and general description of other compensation and benefits that the Company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and geographic location. The Company reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's status protected by local, state, or federal law.

Location Requirements

The position will primarily work a hybrid work schedule, with some onsite visits in Washington, DC. Preference will be given to those who reside in DC.
