Job Summary:

The Distribution Team Lead plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient and safe movement, storage, and handling of products within the distribution area. This role combines hands-on operational duties-including forklift operation and inventory scanning-with leadership responsibilities to support and guide team members in achieving departmental KPIs and company goals. The Team Lead acts as a key liaison between associates and management, fostering a productive and safety-focused work environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support distribution team members in daily tasks, ensuring adherence to safety, USDA, and GMP standards.
  • Delegate responsibilities and assist supervisors in assigning work based on operational priorities.
  • Operate a sit-down forklift to move product from blast freezer to racks and load/unload trucks.
  • Use hand-held scanners to track product inventory accurately.
  • Wrap palletized products to specifications using wrapping equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Ensure team members remain focused and productive, addressing issues as they arise.
  • Train and mentor new associates in accordance with company policies and safety practices.
  • Act as a problem solver and facilitator to ensure workflow efficiency.
  • Maintain punctual and regular attendance, lead by example in professionalism and accountability.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and direct a team.
  • Ability to delegate and empower others effectively and responsibly.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions and company policies.
  • Comfortable working independently with minimal supervision.
  • High energy level and ability to manage stress in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to stand 8-10 hours per day.
  • Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Possible bending, stooping, twisting, and squatting.
  • Operate powered industrial equipment (must be able to become forklift certified).
  • Able to work safely in sub-zero temperatures (as low as -40F) for up to 2 hours at a time.

Working Conditions:

  • Cold, damp, or freezer environments
  • Exposure to loud machinery and dusty conditions
  • Fast-paced distribution and production setting

Education & Experience:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Previous experience in food production or distribution environment preferred
  • Ability to be forklift certified
