The Senior Engineering Manager II will lead a multidisciplinary engineering team, including product engineers and a laboratory supervisor, to drive the success of our hydraulic and lubrication filtration product portfolio. This role is accountable for current product engineering, new product development, new technology exploration, and laboratory/testing operations. The Senior Engineering Manager will champion the application of advanced engineering tools, methodologies, and best practices to deliver innovative, reliable, and cost-effective products that meet customer needs and align with the company's strategic objectives.

This position is focused on product engineering excellence and will collaborate closely with other functions, including product management, manufacturing engineering, quality, and operations. Ideal candidates must be able to work out of our Bloomington, MN location.

Role Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of product engineers and a laboratory supervisor, fostering a high-performance, collaborative culture.

  • Set clear priorities, expectations, and performance metrics for team members.

  • Promote a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and engineering rigor.

Current Product Engineering

  • Oversee sustaining engineering efforts to support existing products, including cost reduction, quality improvement, and performance enhancement projects.

  • Ensure robust engineering change management processes are in place.

  • Provide technical expertise for troubleshooting and resolving customer or field issues.

New Product Development

  • Drive the design, development, and commercialization of new hydraulic and lubrication filtration products from concept to launch.

  • Apply structured development processes (PLM) to ensure products meet performance, cost, quality, and schedule targets.

  • Collaborate with product management and sales to translate market requirements into engineering specifications.

New Technology Development

  • Identify, assess, and integrate emerging technologies that enhance product performance, manufacturability, or competitiveness.

  • Lead feasibility studies, prototyping, and proof-of-concept testing.

  • Work with external partners, suppliers, and research institutions to accelerate technology adoption.

Laboratory & Testing Management

  • Oversee laboratory operations to ensure accurate, repeatable, and timely test results.

  • Maintain compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and safety requirements.

  • Ensure laboratory capabilities and equipment support current and future product development needs.

Engineering Best Practices & Tools

  • Champion the use of modern engineering tools (e.g., CAD, FEA, CFD, PLM systems) and data-driven decision-making.

  • Establish and maintain design standards, guidelines, and documentation best practices.

  • Promote Design for Manufacturability and other engineering excellence initiatives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with manufacturing engineering, quality, supply chain, and operations to ensure smooth product transitions from development to production.

  • Support customer-facing teams with technical expertise during pre-sales, training, and after-sales support.

Travel: Up to 20%

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline (Master's degree preferred).

  • 7+ years of progressive engineering experience in product development, preferably in hydraulic, lubrication, or fluid filtration systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of prior managerial experience, ideally managing a team of engineers.

  • Strong knowledge of engineering design principles, testing methodologies, and product development processes.

  • Experience with laboratory management and testing standards relevant to hydraulic and lubrication systems.

  • Proficiency in CAD and engineering analysis tools (e.g., Autodesk, XFMEA, FEA software).

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

  • Proven track record of delivering projects on time, within budget, and to specification

Relocation: This position is not eligible for relocation assistance.

Annual Salary Range: $134,800 - $178,700.

Actual salaries will vary based on several factors including, but not limited to applicable work experience, training, education, performance.

This position is eligible for annual incentive plan based on performance and company growth.
