Job Summary Financial Planning & Analysis Consultant - Claims and Loss Analytics is responsible for driving financial insight and strategic support related to claims performance and loss cost trends. This role partners across Claims, Actuarial, and Finance to ensure a deep understanding of actual versus expected results, uncover drivers of frequency and severity, and translate operational impacts into financial outcomes. The consultant also contributes to broader financial planning disciplines, including forecasting, budgeting, and business results communications, to support sustainable enterprise performance. Job Responsibilities
- Claims Performance Analysis | Ensure business understanding of actual vs. expected claims results, including identifying and explaining drivers of frequency and severity.
- Loss Trend Insights | Deliver deeper insights into underlying loss cost trends, incorporating external business environment factors and industry benchmarks.
- Operational Impact Translation | Partner with Claims leadership to translate operational and process changes into financial impacts on loss cost outcomes.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration | Collaborate across Claims, Actuarial, and Finance to support enterprise processes such as reserving, pricing, and performance.
- Strategic Forecasting & Budgeting | Collaborate in the preparation of forecasts, budgets, and long-range plans aligned with corporate strategy, incorporating claims and loss analytics into financial projections.
- Financial Modeling & Targeting | Design and maintain complex financial models to project claims-related financial performance and identify optimal operational targets.
- Insightful Reporting | Analyze complex financial and operational data to provide timely, accurate insights and recommendations to senior leadership.
- Continuous Improvement | Identify and lead initiatives to improve, automate, and mature financial practices related to claims analytics and broader FP&A disciplines.
- Governance & Controls | Support the development and implementation of frameworks and tools that enhance oversight and governance of financial and operational processes.
- Mentorship & Influence | Provide guidance and support to peers, build financial acumen across the organization, and act as a subject matter expert in claims-related financial planning.
Job Qualifications
- 7+ years of experience in financial planning & analysis, preferably with exposure to claims, insurance, or loss analytics.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Actuarial Science, Business, or a related field and/or commensurate experience.
Location Hybrid- defined as working three or more days per week in the office if the employee's residence is within 50 miles of Westfield Center, OH/Chicago, IL; OR Remote-if the employee resides more than 50 miles from Westfield Center, OH/Chicago,IL. Behavioral Competencies
