Hennepin Healthcare is an integrated system of care that includes HCMC, a nationally recognized Level I Adult and Pediatric Trauma Center and acute care hospital. SUMMARY

We are currently seeking a Pharmacy Supervisor to join our Clinical Inpatient Pharmacy team. Current vacancy is full-time with benefits, 80 hours per pay period, day/evening shifts, with an on-call expectation.

This individual will oversee our critical care pharmacy team and contribute to the mediation safety initiatives in this practice area.

Under general supervision, responsible for directing and coordinating all pharmacy activities and ensuring that the pharmacy provides optimal services on a daily basis. Facilitates the development, implementation, and maintenance of systems that promote optimal patient outcomes through the use of appropriate, safe, cost-effective drug therapies and clinical recommendations and directs the acquisition, storage and distribution of medications in the organization. This position will also collaborate with the Medication Safety Manager to provide oversight and strategic direction for improvements in the medication use process within the designated area of supervision.

Maintains high standards within the department and translates pharmacy policies and procedures into the daily operation of the pharmacy in accordance with state and federal law, Board of Pharmacy, Joint Commission, and the department of public health regulations. Performs the duties of the Pharmacy Manager the event of his or her absence. RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Supports and assists the manager and director to integrate departmental and organizational goals into department's activities, including oversight for supervision, education and training
  • Directs the work activities as a team leader for department
  • Responsible for hiring, firing, and performance evaluations of pharmacy staff and ensuring adequate staffing coverage
  • Demonstrates operational and clinical leadership with budget, department space, equipment, and human resources
  • Ensures compliance with regulations and department policies and procedures regarding all aspects of Pharmacy services
  • May serve as Pharmacist in Charge
  • Meets internal and external customer service expectations and promotes the continuous improvement philosophy of the department and hospital
  • Works with Pharmacy Manager to develop, implement, and direct the department's drug utilization Quality Assurance, pharmacoeconomic and clinical strategy
  • Monitors utilization benchmark performance for the department and develops and implements improvement action plans in support of the organization's performance strategy
  • Serves as key member of relevant hospital committees related to medication use and clinical services
  • Recommends, develops, implements, and evaluates policies and procedures and makes recommendations as appropriate
  • Ensures documentation of activities as appropriate for specific area of responsibility


QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Qualifications:


  • Licensed Pharmacist in the state of MN
  • Two years of pharmacy experience with a focus in community pharmacy environment
  • Two years can be a combination of residency and/or pharmacist experience: 2 year residency and casual Pharmacist experience -OR- 1 year residency and 1 year Pharmacist experience -OR- 2 years Pharmacist experience
  • Possession of a valid license to practice pharmacy in the State of Minnesota as a pharmacist


Preferred Qualifications:


  • Completion of a Pharmacy Residency Program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists with an emphasis on Health-System Administration or at least 3 years of leadership experience in the clinical pharmacy area.
  • Completion of Pharmacy Residency Program accredited by the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists: PGY-2 in Critical Care or Emergency Medicine
  • Advance certification: BCCCP or BCEMP
  • Advance training or certification in Medication Safety/Quality: CMSO, CPHQ, CPHM, Medication Safety Certificate

  • Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Flexibility to adapt to changes/challenges in organizational strategy, priorities, direction and overcome resistance to change
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate and negotiate with people at all levels
  • Excellent organizational, time management, prioritization and delivery skills
  • Strong analytical and PC skills
