Senior Director, Engineering Excellence

We are seeking a Senior Director of Engineering Excellence to lead and harmonize engineering practices across the enterprise. Reporting directly to the COO, this role will act as an independent and enabling function dedicated to optimizing processes, tools, and technical training. The Senior Director will collaborate closely with key stakeholders to optimize and streamline enterprise-wide engineering practices and ensure engineering excellence at scale.

This role can be based in one of our offices or remotely with the United States, with a preference for candidates located on the East Coast. Travel to our sites will be required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement a comprehensive strategy for engineering excellence that aligns with company objectives and operational goals.

• Identify and drive improvements in engineering processes, workflows, methodologies, and tools to enhance productivity and quality.

• Serve as an independent strategic advisor and partner to engineering leadership across divisions, ensuring consistent and efficient engineering processes.

• Lead initiatives for technical training programs, ensuring continuous skill development and knowledge sharing across engineering teams.

• Collaborate with cross-functional partners, including Division Engineering Leadership, Program Management, Quality Assurance, and Product teams, to support various independent program reviews and governance.

• Establish and track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to engineering processes, quality, and operational efficiency.

• Champion a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and engineering best practices across all levels of the organization.

• Build a team of engineering excellence professionals, providing mentorship and fostering a high-performance culture.

Compensation Range: $239,600 - $323,400

The compensation range provided is a general guideline. When extending an offer, Saab, Inc. considers factors including (but not limited to) the role and associated responsibilities, location, and market and business considerations, as well as the candidate's work experience, key skills, and education/training.

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.

• 10+ years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role focused on process improvement, operational excellence, or engineering management.

• Proven track record in driving large-scale engineering process transformations and scaling best practices across multiple teams.

• Strong knowledge of engineering tools, system development lifecycles, and technical training methodologies.

• Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence senior leadership and cross-functional teams.

• Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and a data-driven approach to decision making.

• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
