    Position Summary: The Executive Director will lead and manage the Minnetonka Public Schools Foundation in increasing our community impact consistent with the mission and vision of the organization through strong, meaningful, and long-term relationships across the district and the community with residents, businesses, and other organizations.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    Organization Mission & Strategy:
    • Represent the Foundation within and external to, the school district and the community developing positive public relations and ongoing community support.
    • Maintain and oversee partnership with the Minnetonka School District and Staff to align fundraising potential to serve district priorities.
    • Build relationships with and/or participate in community and district organizations to help ensure the role and mission of the Foundation is represented within the district.
    • Lead the strategic and operational planning process of the Foundation.
    Fundraising:
    • Develop other revenues necessary to support the Foundation's mission.
    • Cultivate existing and new donor/partner relationships to expand the fundraising potential.
    • Lead and manage key Foundation activities and special events for the benefit of the Foundation's mission and vision.
    • Work collaboratively with the Development chair and committee to strategically identify, secure, and recognize community and corporate partnerships.
    • Oversee all aspects of the Teacher Grant process including submission, review and implementation.
    • Provide guidance and collaborate with the Dream Makers chairs and committee to execute a successful gala event and auction.
    Financial:
    • Maintain responsibility for the fiscal integrity of the Foundation including oversight and submission of the annual budget and reporting of the monthly financial statements reflecting the financial condition of the organization.
    • Manage existing relationships and oversee the creation of new funds established for scholarships, Celebration of Excellence Awards, and Teacher Grants.
    • Maintain relationships with the accounting contractor, investment firm and bookkeeper; and manage daily transactions, monthly reports, the annual financial review, and IRS filings.
    Administration & Operations:
    • Participate in key Foundation committees including Dream Makers, Teacher Grants, Development, Brand & Experience, Finance and Endowment.
    • Supervise and provide direction, training, and mentoring to the Associate Director.
    • Maintain and oversee the website, the Customer Relationship Database and all giving and event platforms for the Foundation.
    • Communicate effectively with the Board of Trustees and provide, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and make informed decisions.
    • Prepare materials and information for Foundation Board Meetings and Executive Committee Meetings.
    • Maintain association and non-profit registrations, By-laws, Articles of Incorporations and Foundation policies.


    Job Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's degree is required in combination with relevant professional experience.
    • Five or more years in leadership roles and a record of success in public relations, marketing, and fundraising.
    • Five or more years of organizational management including strategic planning, board relations, and or operating/financial management.
    • Evidence of excellence in oral and written communication skills.
    • Strong computer skills including proficiency using MS Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point.
    • Proven leadership skills to articulate and achieve a vision and to set both short- and long-range goals.
    • Displays personable and professional work style as well as a professional demeanor.
    • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently.
    • Enjoys being creative and innovative while also conscientious attention to details, accurate records, professionalism and the ability to handle sensitive donor and community relationships.
    • Knowledge of Minnetonka School District is preferred but not required.

    Reporting: The Executive Director position will report to the Executive Committee of the Foundation which includes the Chair, Vice Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and Nominating chair. In addition, the Executive Director will supervise the Foundation Staff position(s) which currently includes the Associate Director role.

    Salary and Benefits: The Minnetonka Public Schools Foundation Executive Director role is a salaried position with expectations of approximately 25 to 30 hours per week. Time commitments are seasonally aligned to the school year and will vary by week based on foundation events. The salary will be $50,000 or higher commensurate with experience. This position does not provide medical or dental insurance. Hours are flexible, but regular office hours are required, and some evening work is necessary. Office space and technology are provided by the Minnetonka Schools District.
