1000 Chrysler Drive (Show on map)
Aug 13, 2025

Vehicles are among the most complex software-intensive systems in existence, containing hundreds of embedded computers (e.g. ECUs, HPCs), hundreds of systems (e.g. recharging, infotainment, lighting), and hundreds of software features. The Stellantis software group is currently developing a state-of-the-art software platform that will be deployed on all Stellantis vehicles going forward. The Software Platform Architecture team is looking for an experienced and innovative Software Platform Domain Architect to lead the design and evolution of our automotive Communication software domain. In this role, you will be responsible for architecting scalable, reliable, and standards-compliant communication systems that power next-generation vehicles. You will work at the intersection of embedded systems, automotive communication protocols (such as CAN, LIN, Ethernet, SOME/IP), and software platforms to ensure seamless integration, performance, and safety across the vehicle ecosystem.

Responsibilities:

The responsibilities of the Software Platform Domain Architect include but are not limited to the following:

  • Define and document the overall platform architecture for the Communication domain, including software components, third-party and data flows between ECUs, gateways, and central compute units.
  • Define and drive the strategic vision and architectural roadmap for the Communication domain within the automotive software platform, ensuring robust, scalable, and future-ready in-vehicle networking.
  • Provide technical guidance and lead architectural decisions to ensure: alignment with standards and best-practices; feasiblity of the solution; and, the fulfillment of long term goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional hardware, systems, and software teams to ensure alignment of architecture with hardware capabilities and vehicle requirements.
  • Define KPIs for communication platform quality and performance, ensuring ongoing monitoring and improvement.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or equivalent.
  • A minimum 8 years of experience in design and development of embedded software preferably in the automotive domain, but not limited to this field.

  • Experience with UML/SysML and IBM Rhapsody (or similar tools like Enterprise Architect).
  • Knowledge of signal and service-oriented interface design.
  • Knowledge of automotive communication protocols (LIN, CAN, Ethernet) and foundational protocols (TCP/IP).
  • Experience writing and reviewing software requirements.
  • Experience with AUTOSAR Classic and/or Adaptive Platform architecture and its communication stack.
  • Experience with ECU internal communication (SPI, shared memory).
  • Experience with gateways, protocol translations, and message routing.
  • Experience with communication fault management.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills. Strong initiative and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Systems-level understanding of vehicle functional domains and their relationships and constraints.
  • Experience working within an Agile/Scrum software development process.
