Job Description

A Brief Overview

We're seeking a highly skilled Senior New York Labor Law Technical Claims Specialist to join our New York City team. In this key role, you will handle complex general liability claims including third-party property damage and bodily injury with a focus on New York Labor Law.

How You will Make an Impact

You'll manage the most complex and technically demanding claims, often with significant financial implications. Working with autonomy and authority, you will:

  • Investigate and adjudicate New York Labor Law claims with precision and fairness.

  • Manage litigation and negotiate settlements that deliver optimal financial results.

  • Analyze claim forms, coverage, and policy terms to determine liability and exposure.

  • Partner with legal counsel, underwriters, and leadership to identify emerging trends and risks.

  • Set and monitor reserves, ensuring accuracy and alignment with company standards.

  • Lead expert coordination, documentation, and reporting throughout the claims process.

  • Apply creative, strategic solutions that balance client needs and business goals.

What You Bring

  • 7+ years of commercial general liability claims experience, with a strong focus on New York Labor Law. Candidates with environmental claims experience will also be considered.

  • Bachelor's degree required; Juris Doctor preferred. (Two or more insurance designations or four additional years of relevant experience may substitute for a degree.)

  • Deep understanding of insurance operations, profitability, and the financial impact of claims decisions.

  • Proven ability to exercise sound judgment, think strategically, and resolve complex issues independently.

  • Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships.

  • Intellectual curiosity and a proactive, solution-oriented mindset.

  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities.

  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite and related claims management software.

  • Licensed Claims Examiner (or ability to obtain required licenses within 120 days).

Compensation and Benefits

We offer a competitive total rewards package that includes:

  • Base salary (NYC range: $161,900 - $223,100)

  • Annual bonus based on company and individual performance

  • Comprehensive benefits: health, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, paid time off, and professional development opportunities

Pay ranges for other locations may differ based on cost of labor.
