Overview

This is a hybrid role with the expectation that time working will regularly take place inside and outside of the Chicago, IL office

This position is responsible for overseeing all casualty events within Rail's fleet. Supervises all aspects of the handling of AAR Rule 95, 107 and 108 incidents, including but not limited to: communication with handling lines and shops, DDCTS reporting and shop estimate reviews and approvals. Monitors all such incidents to ensure that AAR rules are followed, and action is taken within the legally prescribed timeframes. Manages all Scrap events while strictly adhering to Corporate policies and procedures. Collaborates and maintains strong working relationships with external suppliers and vendors to procure necessary services and material to support this function. Works interdepartmentally with Customer Service and Finance to ensure CIT Rail successfully meets its corporate goals.


Responsibilities

  • DDCTS casualty events - Manage casualty events in compliance with Association of American Railroad and Department of Transportation rules and regulations, as well as CIT standards.
  • Supplier and Vendor Management - Collaborates and maintains strong working relationships with external suppliers and vendors to procure necessary services, and at times parts, to support fleet operations.
  • Interdepartmental Communication - Works interdepartmentally with Mechanical, Customer Service and Finance to ensure the company successfully meets its corporate goals.
  • Regulatory Compliance - Stays abreast of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to rail fleet operations, ensuring full compliance and adherence to safety protocols and environmental operations.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree and 6 years of experience in Rail Mechanical or Engineering Environment

High School Diploma or GED and 10 years of experience in Rail Mechanical or Engineering Environment

Preferred Area of Experience: Rail Mechanical

Skills: Strong Organizational skills , Deadline oriented, Initiative

The base pay for this position is relative to your experience but the range is generally $135,000 - $165,000 per year.

Actual starting base pay will be determined based on skills, experience, location, and other non-discriminatory factors permitted by law. For some roles, total compensation may also include variable incentives, bonuses, benefits, and/or other awards as outlined in the offer of employment.
