Senior Principal Systems Development Engineer

What youll achieve

As a Senior Principal Systems Development Engineer in the Custom Design Group, youll work closely with customers and sales teams to help deliver custom solutions based on the Dell portfolio of products to achieve a customer's individual goals. This role will be responsible for driving scope lock, feasibility, design, validation, and deployment of a solution. Youll be the lead engineer coordinating communication, overseeing engineering extended teams and ODMs, and removing roadblocks for success.

You will:

  • Work closely with customers to clearly understand their unique requirements. Assess feasibility of the requested solution and develop a validation strategy that balances speed and risk
  • Bring together teams across Dell and our Development Partners/ODMs to create and deliver on a positive outcome for our customers
  • Evaluates technical options and represents business requirements to the engineering organization through responses to the market requirement documents and detailed functional specifications
  • Lead and mentor through any technical issues that arise during development activities
  • Own multiple projects concurrently from inception to factory release

Essential Requirements

  • 12 to 15 years of related experience
  • Advanced understanding of appropriate system architectures
  • Deep knowledge of hardware and software interactions, and ability to apply this understanding to resolve issues
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to adapt technical discussions to varying audiences
  • Experience with vendor/ODM management

Desirable Requirements

  • Ability to lead, motivate and direct a workgroup
  • Capability to influence others to achieve results

Compensation

Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this position is $189k - $231k.
