Purpose:

Our mission is to cultivate meaningful connections among students, alumni, faculty, and staff while celebrating the traditions and spirit of Lipscomb University. SAA provides students with opportunities to engage deeply with the university community and develop leadership, communication, and event experience during their time as Bisons.

Required Dates:

August 9-15, 2026: Early move-in for training

November 5-7, 2026: Bison's Weekend

February 25, 2027: Giving Day

Qualifications:



  • Demonstrates energy, positivity, and a genuine passion for Lipscomb University, along with a strong commitment to serving the Lipscomb community.
  • Exhibits strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively in both social and professional settings with alumni, families and friends of Lipscomb University.
  • Functions as a self-starter who is reliable, responsible, and capable of prioritizing and managing multiple tasks.
  • Consistently punctual and dependable, with a clear understanding of professional commitments.
  • Remains in good standing with the University and is not on official probation with any campus department.
  • Maintains a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
  • Demonstrates integrity, trustworthiness, and the ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality.



Duties:

The Student Alumni Ambassador acts as a representative for the Lipscomb Office of Alumni and Parent Engagement and the Office of Advancement. This includes:



  • Working 5 hours per week in the office between 8:00 am - 5:00 pm.
  • Attend weekly 1-hour meetings
  • Serve as a host and greeter at alumni or parent events.
  • Help plan, create and execute student initiatives and events for Bisons Weekend
  • Examples of in-office tasks: answer phones, respond to emails, create name tags, gather supplies for events, create social media marketing, and other in-office tasks
  • Represent the offices of Alumni and Parent Engagement, as well as the Office of Advancement, to the greater student body

In addition to participating in leadership development opportunities, Student Alumni Ambassadors will be able to:



  • Regularly network with alumni, parents and other external constituents
  • Travel with the Alumni & Parent Engagement team to local events
  • Gain and strengthen negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Obtain experience working in a professional setting


Selection Process:



  • Must be a current Lipscomb University student, and may be Federal Work Study eligible
  • Application available online from March 16th - April 8th.
  • Interviews April 9th - 16th.
  • Job offers sent out on April 17th.
