Shelter Saw Operator - Porter Corp

Summary

The primary purpose of this position is the operation of Manual Saw Machines to cut raw steel according to print specifications in preparation for weld and fabrication operations. This position is responsible for operation of the Manual Saw machines, checking measurements and tolerances, along with assisting in production as needed.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Follow blue-prints and complete saw activities
2. Inspect parts for non-conformances or defects
3. Manually layout and cut parts according to print specifications
4. Set tooling as needed to cut parts
5. Safe operation of overhead cranes and forklifts (loading/unloading)
6. Responsible for safe operation and maintenance of equipment as required
7. Maintain an efficient, clean and organized work area
8. Adhere to all company policies and procedures
9. Work safely and responsibly, adhering to all safety policies, procedures and guidelines
10. Perform other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 3+ years experience using steel cut saw machines

Travel

• This position requires minimal to no travel

Computer Skills

• Basic computer skills
• Demonstrated proficiency using EPICOR ERP or similar systems

• Team driven- support team members to ensure all tasks are completed

• Ability to read blueprints and measurement tools
• Basic computer skills
• Ability to operate saw machines
• Ability to operate over head cranes
• Able to perform occasional heavy lifting (up to 100 lbs)
• Able to work in an indoor production/shop environment with exposure to variable temperatures and environmental factors (heat, cold, noise, PPE, etc)
