Summary of Job Duties:The Director of the Community Music School (CMS) serves as the key liaison between the Department of Music and the broader community. This position is responsible for the overall administration, strategic planning, and daily operations of the CMS, with a strong focus on fostering partnerships, community outreach, and music education access. The Director serves as the primary administrator of the CMS, overseeing its programming, personnel, finances, and outreach efforts, while ensuring alignment with the values and goals of the Music Department and the University of Arkansas as a whole.

Regular, non-disruptive and reliable attendance is required, as well as the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • At least 5 years of experience in leadership or assistant leadership role at an arts institution / organization

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and experience in areas related to music education and community outreach program

  • Evidence of overseeing finances, management and operations

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills

  • Communication skill

  • Proficiently skilled in Microsoft 365 Office Suite and Adobe Creative Suite

  • Skilled in working with accounting software such as Workday

  • Ability to nurture, and foster a positive work environment that supports excellence in teaching and community engagement
