Hourly Pay Range: $20.69 - $30.00 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors.
Position Highlights:
- Position: Laboratory Support Technician Lead
- Location: Edward Hospital 801 S. Washington Street Naperville, IL.
- Full Time 1.0 (40 hrs./week)
- Hours: Monday-Friday 5am-1:30pm; Includes rotating weekends and holidays
A Brief Overview: Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, prepares, collects, logs and labels specimens for testing. Registers patient information and orders laboratory tests in the computer system. Arranges specimens for further processing by Laboratory staff. Orients and provides training to Lab Processing Tech and Phlebotomy students. Coordinates staff continuing education. Prepares written material of clinical procedures.

- Actively promotes patient satisfaction and customer service values with all staff members. Treats patients with respect and caring. Follows up and resolves patient complaints. Instructs and encourages coworkers to treat patients and hospital staff courteously. Enhances the laboratory's image by reacting positively with all customers.
- Coordinates, trains, and evaluates phlebotomy students in laboratory clinical procedures along with OPCT Lead.
- Orients, trains and assesses competency of Phlebotomists and Lab Processing Techs on new and current clinical procedures.
- Assists Supervisor in establishing section work schedules for assigned staff to ensure adequate shift coverages.
- Develops and coordinates the continuing education of staff which includes choosing topics, scheduling speakers, etc.

- Assists in development of procedures and policies for support services.
- Performs the duties of a Lab Processing Tech, including phlebotomy.
- Meets with staff individually and/or as a group to review expectations. Provides mentoring and role modeling on performance and skill development. Maintains employee files by including regular performance notes, regular documentation of job competencies, attendance records, and other related information.
- Supports total quality improvement philosophy in daily work by demonstrating respect for people and customer satisfaction. Actively participates in gathering and collecting data for the lab. Serves on the Quality Improvement committee as needed.
What you will need:
- Minimum of High School Degree or equivalent
- Minimum six months of experience in a clinical laboratory setting and
- 1 Year of phlebotomy experience
