Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate tugboat to assist in docking, undocking, and maneuvering vessels.
  • Communicate effectively with crew using radio and signaling devices.
  • Interpret tables, charts, weather data, and navigation instructions to ensure safe operations.
  • Monitor engine and equipment performance and coordinate with maintenance personnel to ensure proper functioning.
  • Perform daily vessel inspections, safety drills, and preventive maintenance checks.
  • Maintain logs of tug operations, fuel consumption, hours of operation, and any incidents.
  • Respond to emergencies such as collisions, engine failure, or oil spills.
  • Ensure compliance with all maritime laws, U.S. Coast Guard regulations, and company safety policies.

Qualifications:

  • Valid U.S. Coast Guard license appropriate for the vessel class (e.g., Master of Towing Vessels).
  • TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) required.
  • Minimum 2-5 years of tugboat or similar marine vessel operating experience.
  • Strong knowledge of maritime navigation, vessel maneuvering, and operations.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions and for extended periods on the water.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy materials.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and operating machinery.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather conditions and construction site hazards.
