Location: The position will be on-site full-time in Newburyport, MA.

Staff Accountant Summary:

The Staff Accountant is responsible for general accounting duties; including journal entries, account reconciliations, accruals, and monthly reporting. This position plays a large role in the month-end close process. Prepares analyses as requested by management.

Staff Accountant Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepares monthly journal entries and maintenance of standard journal entries.
  • Prepares account reconciliations accurately and timely.
  • Analyzes balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  • Contributes as a key member of the month-end close process to ensure accuracy, completeness and compliance with company and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Prepares and posts monthly, quarterly, and yearly accruals.
  • Coordinates with "non-Epicor" plants to reconcile and upload monthly activity for assigned locations.
  • Prepares detailed financial analyses as requested by management in their decision-making processes.
  • Maintains effective internal controls to ensure protection of assets and an accurate reporting of financial position.
  • Maintains the integrity of the general ledger.
  • Performs special accounting and finance related projects as assigned.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned or needed.

Staff Accountant Qualification Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting and three to five years' of progressive accounting experience or,
  • An equivalent combination of above education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP requirements.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial reporting.
  • Prior experience in accounting in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • EPICOR ERP system experience a plus.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational skills.
  • Team player, acting with impeccable confidentiality and professionalism.
