Equipment Technician


JOB PURPOSE:


To ensure all medical and facility equipment is clean, functional, and readily available to support resident care across the St. Ann's Community. The Equipment Technician plays a critical role in the maintenance, tracking, and readiness of essential equipment and supports overall organizational efficiency and safety.

JOB FUNCTIONS:

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • RFID Asset Management


    • Tag and scan all equipment using the facility's RFID tracking system.
    • Monitor and update equipment location and status records.
    • Conduct periodic audits to ensure inventory accuracy.


  • Equipment Availability & Preparation


    • Ensure each household has appropriate and functional equipment (e.g., lifts, wheelchairs, scales).
    • Prepare and stage equipment for new admissions and discharges.
    • Respond promptly to equipment requests and relocations.


  • Cleaning & Sanitization


    • Perform regular cleaning and disinfection of shared equipment per infection control protocols.
    • Maintain cleaning logs and ensure clean items are rotated and ready for use.


  • Minor Repairs & Troubleshooting


    • Conduct routine inspections to identify damaged or malfunctioning equipment.
    • Perform minor repairs (e.g., tightening bolts, replacing wheels or batteries).
    • Report major repair needs and coordinate with Facilities or vendors as necessary.


  • Furniture & Common Area Maintenance


    • Assist with setup and basic maintenance of furniture in lounges, dining rooms, and shared spaces.
    • Support seasonal or special event setups.


  • Procurement & Recommendations


    • Monitor equipment condition and usage.
    • Recommend replacements or upgrades based on safety and care needs.




REQUIREMENTS



  • High school diploma or GED required; vocational training in maintenance or electronics preferred.
  • 1-2 years experience in healthcare, maintenance, or equipment handling.
  • Familiarity with medical equipment and basic mechanical or electrical repair.
  • RFID or asset tracking system experience preferred.
