Work is to be performed 100% onsite with our Government Customer in Springfield, VA. We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Network Firewall Technician to support the implementation, configuration, and maintenance of our organization's firewall infrastructure. The ideal candidate will work closely with the network security team to ensure the effective operation and security of our network perimeter defenses. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 
 
 
 
 Assist in the implementation and configuration of firewall systems across various platformsPerform day-to-day firewall administration tasks, including rule updates, policy modifications, and access control list (ACL) managementMonitor firewall logs and alerts, responding to, and escalating security incidents as appropriateConduct regular firewall health checks and performance tuningAssist in troubleshooting network connectivity and security issues related to firewallsHelp maintain firewall documentation, including configuration changes and standard operating proceduresParticipate in firewall upgrade projects and new deploymentsAssist in conducting periodic firewall rule reviews and clean-up effortsSupport the implementation of next-generation firewall features such as IPS and application controlCollaborate with other IT teams members to ensure proper integration of firewall systems with other network componentsStay current with emerging security threats and firewall technologiesParticipate in on-call rotation for critical firewall and network security incidents
 
 Basic Qualifications: 
 
 
 Bachelor's degree in a Technical field or equivalent work experience10+ years of related work experienceTS/SCI with PolyExceptional organizational skills and attention to detailExpert-level knowledge of major firewall platforms (e.g., Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, Forcepoint)Strong understanding of networking protocols, OSI model, and common network architecturesExperience with network security and software-defined networking (SDN) conceptsHands-on experience with network security concepts, such as VPNs, NAT, IDS/IPS, and DMZ configurations.Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP, etc.), network routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP), and network architectures.Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and analytical skillsStrong communication skills, both written and verbal
 
 Preferred Qualifications: 
 
 
 Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CCNP Security, Palo Alto PCNSE, or equivalent are highly desired.Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, Bash) for automation and management tasks
