We are looking for a Collection Team Lead to join commercial Services in the Atlantic region.

The Commercial Services team is responsible for the Contract to Cash (CTC) activities for the sales of all materials both in the Pacific and Atlantic region. Partnering with Rio Tinto Product Group, Sales Organization and other centralized functions, Commercial Services ensures back office activities such as contract entries, Sales Orders, Invoicing and settlements are performed. Under the Commercial Services Team, the Collection team is responsible for on time payment from customers based on agreed upon contracts. The team is also responsible for highlighting issues that might arise to stakeholders for appropriate credit risk mitigation, undisrupted cash flow and value generation.

Based in either Montreal of Chicago you will be leading a small team of analysts and reporting to the Manager Commercial Services Atlantic.

Key accountabilities

  • Responsible for allocating work among team members and ensuring that reporting and meetings are conducted efficiently

  • Act as the first line of contact with customers for payment-related issues, ensuring that protocols are followed by team members and customer interactions are managed effectively

  • Defining, tracking, and analyzing KPIs to monitor and improve individual and team performance

  • Participate in elaboration of process improvement and standardization to improve efficiency and bring additional value to product group

  • Lead governance and month-end results presentations and support preparation of executive meetings.

  • Provide coaching and training to team members to ensure they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge

  • Create customer profiles to help make the collections process more efficient

  • Work closely with multiple stakeholders to improve the level of service to meet business requirements and unlock value

  • Ensure SOX controls activities are completed on time

Activities and Tasks

  • Ensure KPI are analyzed and published on decided platform and channel communication

  • Support team members with internal and external customer discussions when needed

  • Orchestrate efficient work allocation between team members to ensure customer reach and business requirement are met

  • Lead small project of improvement and participate in digital transformation project lead by supporting group.

  • Coordinate month-end activities and result presentation in a timely matter link to overall Rio Tinto Finance month-end activities

  • Coordinate the standard operating procedures for Atlantic collection activities and coordinate training for the team

  • Reach out to key stakeholders for feedback and improvement opportunities

  • Review SOX control completion based on controls timeline

About you

To be successfully considered in this role, you will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, accounting or relevant experience

  • Experience in leading a small team

  • Knowledge of Microsoft office suite with advance ability in Excel

  • SAP experience

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to collaborate well and partner with stakeholders across various countries and capacities

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken. Rio Tinto is a global company and the duties of this position require daily collaboration with colleagues, teams or partners based outside Quebec.

It will also be beneficial if you have :

  • Knowledge of Power BI or any other data analytics tools/applications

  • Experience in Metals and Mining industries

  • Proven ability to generate high quality reports and dashboard

  • Business Improvement skill set (Agile, Lean Six Sigma)
