Position Summary

Performs routine and advanced examinations in MRI under the direction of a Radiologist at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. The technologist assumes responsibility for the safety of their patients and colleagues in their designated work area and takes corrective action when necessary to maintain safety. Positions patients, screens and prepares for procedure, administers injections of contrast media, operates scanners to obtain quality diagnostic images. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care that is appropriate to the ages of patients served.

Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent, preferred
  • Registration through the American Registry for Radiologic Technologist as well as two years formal training in an accredited School of Radiologic Technology.



Certification

  • Registration/license as required by the State of Illinois.
  • BLS certification through AHA required



Work Environment/Physical Demands:

  • The ideal candidate must be able to work and complete all physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
  • Prolonged periods standing, reaching and bending.
  • Medium Lifting, generally lifting not more than 50 lbs. maximum with assistance
  • Physical strength and agility to position patients for a variety of diagnostic examinations.
  • Reasonably anticipated occupational exposure to blood, blood-borne pathogens, and other potentially infectious materials.
  • Visual and hearing acuity with/without corrective devices.
  • Job may require potential exposure to chemical/hazardous materials.
  • Requires potential for exposure to an environmental hazard of radiation.
  • Knowledge of abuse/neglect.
  • Requires of performance of highly complex and various tasks during emergency situations requiring independent knowledge and judgment.
