As part of this strategic integration, Boynton Health is pleased to announce the creation of several Mental Health Clinical Manager roles, who will provide strategic leadership to designated mental health service lines. The Clinical Manager, Case Management and Community Intervention plays a key role in ensuring students have access to high-quality mental health care and that mental health staff are supported through strong leadership, infrastructure, and vision.

General Statement of Responsibilities:

The Clinical Manager of Case Management & Community Intervention at the Boynton Health Clinic provides strategic leadership in the design, delivery, and continuous improvement of mental health case management, community intervention, and prevention services for University of Minnesota students. This role ensures students have streamlined access to mental health and basic needs resources, both on campus and in the broader community, contributing to the University's commitment to holistic student well-being and retention.

This position oversees the operations of a multidisciplinary team and collaborates with campus and community partners to enhance coordinated care and crisis response. In addition to administrative and leadership responsibilities, the Manager provides direct clinical services, including care coordination, to eligible students via in-person and telehealth platforms.

The Clinical Manager of Case Management & Community Intervention must be a licensed mental health clinical professional and have experience providing clinical and/or administrative supervision. Experience in change management, and/or quality improvement initiatives are preferred skills. This position will be coordinating clinical case management, community intervention, and prevention services within/across Boynton Health and in the University of Minnesota campus community. They are also responsible for promoting a safe, equitable, and respectful environment where concerns can be addressed effectively.

Detailed Job Responsibilities:

Leadership Responsibilities (25%):

  • Provide strategic leadership, clinical supervision, and consultation for case management and community intervention staff, fostering a trauma-informed, culturally responsive approach to student care.

  • Guide the development and implementation of policies and procedures for clinical care coordination, community intervention, and prevention services in alignment with ethical standards, regulatory requirements, and institutional goals.

  • Oversee staffing operations, including scheduling, coverage planning, and performance monitoring for case management and care coordination services to ensure seamless access and continuity of care.

  • Generate and analyze data related to service utilization, referral trends, and program outcomes to support strategic planning, staff development, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Promote efficient, student-centered, and high-quality service delivery by leveraging evidence-based practices and fostering a culture of accountability and collaboration.

  • Lead and facilitate regular team meetings to align goals, share updates, and support cross-functional collaboration.

  • Direct onboarding, orientation, and ongoing professional development for new staff and trainees engaged in care coordination, ensuring consistency in training, expectations, and service delivery.

  • Collaborate with internal partners, including the Operations Team, to support procedural implementation, compliance, and continuous quality improvement efforts.

  • Build and maintain strategic referral partnerships with on-campus departments and off-campus providers to expand the network of support services available to students.

  • Represent Clinical Care Coordination in cross-departmental workgroups and institutional initiatives, contributing subject matter expertise to advance clinical services delivery and integrated care models.

Clinical Responsibilities (75%):

  • Provide scheduled in-person, virtual, and drop-in culturally and trauma-responsive mental health initial intake and ongoing therapy and counseling appointments to currently enrolled University of Minnesota students.
  • Establish and maintain referral collaborations with on- and off-campus partners
  • Assess risk and safety and provide immediate referrals and access to appropriate services, such as urgent counseling.
  • Facilitate referrals to on- and off-campus supportive services, including academic departments, university support services, and community mental health care (i.e., specialized services for higher-level care needs).
  • Provide backup urgent/crisis counseling coverage to UMN students during regular clinic hours via phone, telehealth, and in-person in the clinic, depending on the clinic's needs.
  • Coordinate services with campus partners (e.g., UMN Care Team, BCT, DRC, ISSS, UMPD) as appropriate.
  • Provide clinical supervision and/or participate in training programs for psychology and master's level practicum students whom they may supervise.
  • Promote a safe, equitable, and respectful professional team environment where concerns can be addressed effectively.
  • Participate in any needed campus-wide response that requires mental health support.
  • Participate in a rotation of end-of-day coverage that may go beyond clinic hours to assist with urgent clinical needs.
  • Provides after-hours on-call mental health crisis support as needed

This position also performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS plus at least eight years of experience, or an advanced degree plus at least five years of experience, or a terminal degree plus at least two years of experience.
  • One year of experience allows for independent licensure as a mental health therapist in the state of Minnesota.
  • Demonstrated commitment to promoting a culture that respects and advances diversity and inclusion.
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical supervision and training
  • 5 years or more of clinical experience in providing diagnostic assessments and clinical care coordination/case management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2 years or more of supervisory experience over mental health professionals.
  • Experience working with individuals with a broad range of acuity needs.
  • Demonstrated experience with trauma-informed, culturally responsive care.
  • Experience in change management, and/or quality improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with the University of Minnesota and community resources and procedures.

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $100,000 - $115,000/year depending on education/qualifications/experience
