Summary
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Manager of Core Infrastructure Operations to lead our dynamic team in managing, optimizing, and enhancing our cloud and on-premises hosting environments. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of Cloud technologies, Infrastructure and Operating Systems management, Backup and Recovery, operational best practices, and demonstrated cross-functional skills in a matrixed environment. This role is critical in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and security of our IT environment, supporting our business objectives and driving innovation. The Senior Manager will be responsible for maintaining robust solutions, optimizing system performance, and streamlining operations with automation to improve efficiency. This position requires a strong collaborator, people manager, and strategic thinker who can balance day-to-day operational, capacity, delivery, and forecasting needs while ensuring critical systems remain resilient, scalable, and aligned with evolving business needs. #LI-JP1
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of technical strategy for the enterprise.
- Direct and coordinate all aspects of information technology infrastructure and architecture and establish priorities for systems design, implementation, and maintenance to maximize organizational performance.
- Provide oversight of data center and cloud operations, end-user compute and directory services, and unified communications technology while approving the initiation, completion and changes to infrastructure projects.
- Provide leadership and set direction for all infrastructure technologies across a blend of co-located, on-prem, and cloud environments (design, projects and operational matters). Ensure that the NYPA Infrastructure remains leading edge and meets all business requirements.
- Provide technical, strategic, and operational assistance to NYPA sites for infrastructure technologies so that NYPA sites remain in-line with enterprise technology goals and standards.
- Design, develop and implement substantive guidance, procedures, and standards for service management, capital and O&M planning, infrastructure development, testing and deployment efforts with primary focus on IT's technical services. Ensure that the required Service Level Agreement, quality and budget parameters are in-line with the values defined by management for each production customer.
- Plan, prepare, establish and monitor components of the IT Infrastructure Capital and O&M budget including building the business case and providing cost/benefit analysis for technology investments. Approve and/or recommend for approval, equipment, hardware, software, systems, services and other related items as applicable to install or maintain technical services.
- Manage employees by establishing annual performance goals, allocating resources, assessing annual performance, and determining individual merit, incentive and/or promotional increases. Supervise and provide leadership, coaching, guidance, training, career counseling and staff development
- Work with staff members and other business units at remote NYPA sites to achieve infrastructure goals and objectives
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Demonstrated capability to drive complex infrastructure projects to successful completion and manage department and project budgets and funding
- Results-oriented with ability to lead the team in building and managing the next generation infrastructure solutions.
- Establish, plan, and administer the overall goals and direction for the infrastructure team
- Oversee and drive the implementation of key IT/Business infrastructure initiatives
- Establish and maintain strong partnerships with key technology vendors
- Interact with key IT/business stakeholders to proactively identify business problems that can be addressed with innovative technology solutions
- Develop strategic direction and long-term roadmap for NYPA's datacenters
- Develop business continuity strategy for support of critical applications to meet required SLA's
- Develop and manage the Infrastructure group annual budget and project budgets
- Assess the relative impact of industry trends to current and future infrastructure needs within NYPA
- Develop a model that keeps the NYPA Infrastructure team on the leading edge of innovation and adaptation of technology
- Provide technical strategic and operational assistance to NYPA sites for infrastructure technologies so that NYPA sites remain in-line with enterprise technology goals and standards
- Excellent interpersonal, oral/presentation and written communications skills in both technical and non-technical language. Ability to effectively communicate with varying levels of management and staff in both the Business Unit and in IT.
Education, Experience and Certifications
- Bachelor's Degree. Business, Information Management, or a related field preferred
- Minimum 7 years managerial experience with information systems and significant, demonstrated technical skills in data center and cloud operations, network equipment and protocols and telecommunication technology preferred.
- Experience leading technology projects and driving them to a successful completion on time
- 3 years experience successfully leading, motivating, and building a technology engineering and operations team preferred.
Physical Requirements
- May be required to take trips to NYPA facilities to address issues. May be required to travel overnight to NYPA facilities.
- May be required to travel to NYPA's hot-site as part of NYPA's Disaster Recovery/Business Continuance Hot-Site procedures.

The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates' relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
